The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California

Associated with the district's core functions to pump, treat, store and distribute water.  Metropolitan maintains significant land holdings. 


Managing the use of these properties is the responsibility of the Real Property Development and Management (RPDM) Group.  In addition, RPDM is responsible for acquiring real property for future operational business needs.

Requests for Statement of Interest

​​The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan) is seeking Statements of Interest from parties who wish to lease tracts of land in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Bay Delta (Delta) for 5 years and may be extended up to (2) years for agricultural purposes. Metropolitan will favor Statements of Interest that seek to lease one or more of the listed tracts below in their entirety.  The lands available for lease in their preferred tract groupings are as follows:

  1. Webb Tract :                      5,497 gross acres
  2. Holland Tract :                   3,007 gross acres
  3. Bouldin Island (East) :      2,728 gross acres
  4. Bacon Island:                    5,603 gross acres

All Statements of Interest must be submitted via e-mail by no later than 11:59 p.m, PDT on August 7, 2020 in accordance with the submittal instructions listed in the Request for Statements of Interest (RFSI). Respondents are encouraged to carefully review this RFSI in its entirety prior to the preparation and submittal of the Response. Failure to submit a complete Response which meets all RFSI requirements may result in a non-responsive determination and be rejected. Respondents are solely responsible for familiarizing themselves with all the necessary steps to ensure that Statements of Interest are submitted online correctly and completely, both in form and content, and within the stipulated deadline. Faxed, mailed or hand-delivered Statements of Interest will not be accepted. 

Secondary Land Use

Metropolitan offers opportunities to lease or license its land for secondary purposes at market rates if a proposal is compatible with Metropolitan's present and/or planned future use of property.  A request processing fee may be required.  If interested, please contact RPDM at (213) 217-7750 or by e-mail.
