Sydney B. Bennion is an assistant general counsel for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.  She provides legal representation to Metropolitan on financial matters, including bond issues, rates and charges, property taxes and employee benefits.  She is responsible for internal administration of Metropolitan's legal department, assists the general counsel and may perform the duties of the general counsel in her absence. 

Ms. Bennion joined Metropolitan in 1993 after a decade of private law practice representing banks and public agencies in municipal finance and commercial transactions.  From 1999 to 2001 she worked in the Office of the Los Angeles County Counsel, advising the County on bond issues and other transactional matters.  She returned to Metropolitan's legal department in 2001.  Ms. Bennion served as Metropolitan’s Interim General Counsel from February 2006 until February 2007.

She earned a bachelor's degree in English and her law degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
