Top Trees___

Plant California Friendly® and native trees. They are naturally water-efficient and provide homes for local birds, bees, and beneficial pollinators.

A list of recommended tree species is available at bewaterwise.com/trees.

What Not To Plant___

While many trees qualify for the rebate, not all do. Invasive tree species on the California Invasive Plant Council list do not qualify.

Trees that don’t provide enough shade, like those with soft weeping branches, also do not qualify for the rebate.

Trees for Our Future___

With climate change challenging every water resource we’ve historically relied on, continuing to use water wisely, rain or shine, is essential. Metropolitan’s Turf Replacement Program has transformed more than 200 million square feet of thirsty lawns into sustainable landscapes. Adding trees to these landscapes will help create more resilient, healthy, and water-efficient neighborhoods and communities.
